WA Peer Supporters’ Network

Growing Peer Support
in Services and Community

The WA Peer Supporters’ Network (WAPSN) is a forum led by Peer Supporters to advance Peer Support and the Peer Support Workforce in Western Australia.

The Network is for anyone with an interest in Peer Support and Peer Work, across all sectors and walks of life. We build knowledge, skills and collaborations for Peer Support and Peer Work through news, meetings and events.

WAPSN was formed in 2014 and since then has been a State-wide Network for Peer Supporters to connect and support each other, grow our knowledge and skills for Peer Support and to promote the value and uptake of Peer Support and Peer Workers.

Peer Support

Peer Support is when people use the power of empathy from a shared experience and/or identity to connect, grow resilience and enhance wellbeing. It lies at the heart of welcoming communities.

Peer Workers

Peer Workers are people whose lived experience is similar to the Peers they work with. This experience is essential to their role and to helping others. They may offer Peer Support or use their lived experience in other ways and can be paid staff, volunteers or self-employed.
